Oryx Micro Financing Limited, formerly Classic Micro Financing was established in 2018 with a relatively small client base. Since then, Oryx has grown and is on a path to becoming one of the dominant providers of personal loans to Jamaica's Microfinance Sector. While Oryx is presently Kingston based, it is unique in that, clients have the opportunity of doing business in the comfort of their own home.
Oryx is cognizant that access to financing is vital to personal and financial growth which will extend to the economic growth of a country. With this in mind, Oryx has pledged to support its clients on their journey to financial stability, which is a solid foundation for economic growth. We have a varied client base in the Service, Entrepreneurship, Manufacturing and Agriculture sectors.

CEO
At Oryx, we intend to provide our clients with a hassle-free loan process. My role as CEO is to develop and execute strategies that are imperative to that overall vision and mission. This requires constant assessment of possible risks to the company so that they are monitored and minimized. As CEO my responsibilities also include making decisions that are then implemented in the best interest of all the stakeholders, as Oryx continues to seek business opportunities that will benefit both the company and our valued clients.

As the Managing Director at Oryx, my aim is for us to accomplish our vision of becoming the leading microfinancing provider in Jamaica through excellent client relationships. To accomplish this, I research the market to ensure our rates associated with processing and repayments of our loans are competitive. Another major part of my portfolio is for us to be compliant with all rules, regulations and procedures as it relates to the stipulations for Micro financing companies operating in Jamaica. But I am not just all about the numbers and papers. I also interact with our clients on a as needed basis to garner feedback on our service so we can continue to improve the quality of service we offer. I am Oryx to the core and I work to build and preserve our company and business relationships.

A key component of our mission at Oryx Micro Financing is to provide financial solutions to our customers in a relaxed and trustworthy environment. As the General Manager, my aim is to ensure we adhere to this. I oversee the daily operations of the company to guarantee our customers expeditious and pleasant service. Communication and dissemination of accurate information with and to our clients is paramount to success of our business. As such, I also ensure that our communication lines are always open, so our clients can access information about our products and services and ultimately transact business with us.

My role in the company is to provide administrative service which includes office procedures and record systems. To ensure confidence from our clients, documentation of all business procedures must be done in a timely and confidential manner. Responsibilities also include facilitating communications through the necessary channels so that service is prompt and efficient.

As the Loans’ Office at Oryx, my aim is to ensure that our clients have a seamless, warm and pleasant experience from the application to the processing of their loans. I review all client files, to ensure Identification particulars are up-to-date, prequalification documents submitted satisfy Oryx’s requirements and contact their references. On a larger scale, I make certain our clients documents adhere to the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) in Jamaica, which stipulates that we have accurate data (ID, address, TRN etc.) for all our clients. Once all those requirements are met, I prepare the loan documents for our clients’ signature, then present it to upper management for entry into our system and subsequent disbursement. To summarize, I ensure “our people”, Oryx’s clients, are good!
